The inspiration for this company comes from our experience with Pivot. Pivot has been helping companies develop manufacturing and new supply chains in Asia since 2016. In doing this work, we came to see the possible benefits we could provide not just when establishing new trade links, but also in improving existing supply relationships. Further, we came to understand the strong interconnections between the different phases of the overseas procurement process, how each affects the other. With all this in mind, we started Circa Supply.

Connection: By developing a relationship with a given supplier, we allow for a clear conversation around risk, responsibility, quality, and lead time improvement, which would not be possible with only an arm’s length relationship.
With our team’s dedicated care and attention, we are able to make forecasts for your future need. Further, with our proximity to and connection with your suppliers, we are able to more accurately assess current production and shipment lead times. Feeding this into our larger model, we can then make decisions to take advantage of price breaks and other economies of scale while also minimizing capital and storage costs, guaranteeing you an efficient but secured supply.
Connection: The forecasts we generate can also be used to plan financing and storage requirements along with identifying consolidation opportunities.
Even if active enforcement is not expected, following such a process can be helpful in terms of clarifying responsibilities, expectations, and requirements with a supplier, leading to better understandings, outcomes, and assumptions of responsibility, when necessary.
Further, in the realm of intellectual property, we follow a need-to-know policy, making sure individual suppliers and partners only have the specific information they need to perform. Therefore intellectual property is not only protected through law and contract, but also through practicality.
Connection: By controlling the contracting process, we allow ourselves to clarify the supplier’s role in quality assurance, allowing for an efficient quality process that reduces redundancy.
Our team has the required technical ability and experience to improve quality and work through challenges in many different areas. Even when working with the highest quality suppliers, we understand the sort of documentation that needs to be collected and maintained for a given order. Therefore, we look forward to providing as much assistance as required to efficiently and effectively support your quality program.
Connection: Through involvement in the quality process, we decrease not only your risk but our own risk in providing project financing, increasing affordability. Also being on top of the quality process allows us to manage compliance and as the importer and exporter of record on your behalf.
For example, say there is a product that you are currently ordering a full container of once a year. What we would imagine would be to ship you a few pallets biweekly, monthly, or quarterly instead, adapting our deliveries to your actual real-time need. Our hope is that by doing so we can reduce your required storage space, and more importantly the mental energy required to manage so much inventory. Further, we will use our logistics knowledge and capabilities to make this arrangement affordable, in a way that other partners would be simply unable to do.
Connection: By creating just-in-time logistics, we also allow for just-in-time invoicing. And by dispatching in smaller quantities, we in turn receive accurate consumption data which can be used in our forecasting process, in addition to data shared by your team.
When importing into the US, we assure that all pre-shipment documentation is prepared correctly, avoiding any fines or delays. We can track and use optimal HS codes for your goods, a topic of increasing importance in era of trade wars. We also prepare any additional compliance documentation, and work with Customs as any questions arise.
And perhaps most importantly, we can take these issues related to importation and exportation off your plate, allowing you to focus on the more important aspects of your day.
Connection: By controlling the importing process, we allow for consolidation of your orders along with those of our other customers, creating logistics efficiencies.
Coordinating these payment schedules across many vendors adds to mental burden and can lead to delays if not executed correctly. Additional complication is added if trying to accurately track capital usage and interest cost, a newer wrinkle in a period of higher interest rates.
By providing project financing and managing this payment schedule, we are able to significantly smooth this process for our customers. Our goal is to adjust our payment terms so that our customer can be paying us as they are receiving payment themselves, reducing working capital and the uncertainty created by interest rates applied versus time. Our financing is therefore key to making sure our customer’s invoice price represents a truly accurate cost.
In general we see an opportunity to provide financing to customers we know well. We also see lending in support of inventory to be lower risk than general lending. We want to use this insight to offer affordable credit, particularly to smaller customers who may struggle to get financing from traditional institutions.
Connection: Providing financing allows us to make and execute our own forecasting decisions on your behalf, avoiding a long, drawn out approval process which kills lead times. Owning all goods at the time of export and import also allows for innovative consolidation options.
In sum, the goal is to offer exceptional service at a clear and fixed price that is similar to or less than your current cost.
